About This Program

With an MSU Denver Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s of Science degree, you are qualified to perform research, design, develop, test or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components or systems for commercial, industrial, military or scientific use.

Your Electrical Engineering degree means you will have a solid foundation in sciences, mathematics and electric circuits and devices. MSU Denver’s intensive curriculum consists of two years of mathematical and engineering sciences, two years of analytical, experimental and design methodologies, computer-integrated design experience and substantial experience in our state-of-the-art Electrical Engineering laboratories.

With this combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, you will be prepared for immediate employment in the electrical and electronics industry or to pursue a master’s degree in the field.

Some Electrical Engineering positions require a Professional Engineer license. Your degree will prepare you to take the first step of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. For more information about the F.E. or P.E.  Click this link to learn more.

Facilities & Resources

MSU Denver’s Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building (AES) offers an innovative approach to education by blending the disciplines of Civil, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical, Computer, and Environmental Engineering.

This dynamic learning space integrates product development with collaborative design and research and provides students with advanced technology opportunities and experiential laboratories.

York Space Systems, an American aerospace company founded by alumni from NASA, Lockheed Martin, Orbital ATK and BAE Systems, houses its design team, production facilities and Mission Operations Center in the AES building, providing students in the coordinated disciplines unique learning opportunities and real-world experiences.

You can also take advantage of several active Engineering-related student groups. Learn more about our clubs and organizations.

Benefits of Earning Your Degree at MSU Denver

MSU Denver’s new Aerospace and Engineering Science Building offers the most advanced equipment and facilities for Electrical Engineering students. In addition, York Space Systems has moved a portion of its business into the AES Building, which will give you an incredible opportunity to work with its design team on product development.

And, as an Electrical Engineering (EE) major, you’ll have the opportunity to compete in collegiate competitions that offer scholarship money. For instance, in the May 2017 inaugural “Diversity Meets Innovation Case Competition” sponsored by Arrow Electronics and Indiegogo, the MSU Denver team tied for first place and received $12,500 in scholarship funds.

You’ll also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by serving an internship at one of the many local firms that partner with the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology through the MSU Denver Classroom to Career Hub.
